Additional information:

  • In Chinese mythology, the Chinese phoenix is an immortal bird whose rare appearance is said to be an omen heralding harmony with the ascent to the throne of a new emperor. The Maki-e technique adorns this Namiki Nippon Art fountain pen. This pen was created in collaboration with various Maki-e artists (Kokkokai) in Japan and features the Hira Maki-e technique, where the main lacquered design is decorated with sprinkled gold and silver powders. Several additional layers of lacquer are then applied. Once the lacquer has hardened, it is polished.
