- In the ancient Japanese myth, it was said that the rooster had tempted the sun goddess, Amaterasu, out of her cave, bringing light back to the sky after a period of absolute darkness. In recognition of the rooster's bravery during this time of despair, this Japanese bird is a symbol of courage throughout Japan. This fountain pen features an 18k bicolor nib and gold-plated details. It comes with a dropper, certificate of authenticity, specific Chinkin brochure, and hand-signed paper by Yasuji. The rooster motif is created in chinkin, a technique that uses special chisels to engrave a pattern on the lacquered surface. The design is infused with color by applying an additional layer of lacquer to the chisel tracings and embedding gold leaf or gold powder.
